Top Ten Thursday: BlackBerry bennies

Hold the (smart)phone! I'm going to post the suggested Top Ten Thursday list this week.

Top Ten Thursday Button

What I love about my BlackBerry:
  1. My device is strictly for personal use.
  2. I got it for $50 ($25 if you consider Brian's was free) six months before I was technically eligible for an upgrade.
  3. I don't need to worry about packing my finicky digital camera and a full pack of batteries (the camera is finicky in that it drains batteries within hours even when off) to every potentially keepsake-worthy event.
  4. When I hear my toddler's funky cough from the next room, I can look up the symptoms of the swine flu without getting out of bed or even turning on the light. (We're good.)
  5. I can report on the crazy stuff I see and hear outside the house without having to make a mental note--for which my brain has limited capacity--to Tweet about it when I get home.
  6. Texting without scrolling is almost the ease-boost of driving an automatic vs. a standard.
  7. The VZ Navigator, though I'll have to cancel the free trial at the end of the month, beats the hell out of having to call Brian while driving around in landmarkless circles.
  8. When and if I decide to train for another marathon, I'll be able to go on long runs carrying my cell and tunes all in one (though my hands got quite the workout balancing my Disc-Man perpendicular to the ground--to avoid skipping--in '04).
  9. I'm not materialistic, but it's fun to own a cool gadget.
  10. In some perverse way, I feel less guilty vegging in front of the TV if I use the commercials to catch up on Twitter and Facebook.
